Our Sister School, Hiroshima Global Academy (HiGA) in Japan, invited many teachers & administrators from various schools to a virtual meeting after school today to learn about their free study abroad program for two years in their IB Diploma Programme school. But because Japan's school system starts in April & ends in March, this would a decision for 9th graders interested in studying at HiGA part of their 10th - 12th grades.
When I say "free," I mean tuition is free. Students would have to pay dorm, food, etc. costs, similar to a study abroad experience that many high school students dream about & ask college reps when they visit our campus.
One of the highlights mentioned was the idea of a summer bridge visit so 8th grade students could experience the campus, weather, food before applying. Another idea mentioned was that students might be able to schedule visits to Japanese universities for possible long-term planning.
Global opportunities to prepare our students! If interested, you can check out their website for the application process or email me & I can put you in touch with someone from the school re: the application process/timeline.
