Day 64. "how I wanted everyone I love to wear me like a hat" Poet Ruth Madievsky
Sometimes doing something you never did before can be scary. I've never been an MYP Coordinator, so today, being day 64 of my new job, was the first time I could take a moment to reflect. Today, the first Personal Project Support Hub was established with 31 students being selected from 14 KAP teachers' classes to receive extra assistance.
Students who were unaware that the PP was an actual assignment had to educate themselves, conduct research, and choose a single idea for their project. They appeared at ease, enjoying themselves with friends while completing paperwork.
As for me, it was my first experience organizing learning stations. Just as I mentioned, delving into something unfamiliar can be intimidating. Would it work? Would each station cater to the individual needs of the students, regardless of their starting point or progress? Would 31 students, who were complete strangers to me, pay attention and listen to me?
In the words of Alvin Toffler, an American author and futurist, "In the 21st century, the true illiterates are not those who lack basic reading and writing skills, but those who are unable to adapt by learning, unlearning, and relearning."
Today appeared to be successful. Students smiled while pushing in their chairs and expressed gratitude as they left. Hats and all, we all learned about ourselves as learners today.
